An Upgrade Gone Wrong

Why does the site look so different, you ask?

Well, because I like to try and keep our installation of WordPress current, I attempted to upgrade to the latest version (2.6.3) today.  I am still not certain at what point something went wrong, but the upgrade did not go nearly as smoothly as I would have liked.  In the maelstrom, the our WordPress installation was completely corrupted and I had to reinstall everything.  Fortunately, we did not lose the database that houses the content of all of our posts.  However, the site’s theme stopped working and is currently beyond my desire to repair.  That being said, the theme you see currently is temporary until we find another that we like (or until I am able to figure out why the old theme doesn’t work).  Also, if the site is behaving strangely, it’s most likely a result of 2.6.3 and I am probably working on it.

Anyway, be sure not to miss Anna’s great post about recent happenings in our lives, it’s a lot more interesting than this post. ;-)

Update: Through some research, forum posting, and basic trial and error, I have been able to get our theme running again.  We will have try to restore our images, but everything from this point on should be fine.

Update…finally!

-We FINALLY went on our honeymoon! We spent almost a week at Disney World and had an absolute blast! One highlight was our awesome resort, the Port Orleans Riverside. It was absolutely beautiful and provided some peace and quiet after a long day of screaming children. Another is that it was such an easy vacation! Because we stayed at a Disney resort we had transportation everywhere and we had extra hours at each park. The extra hours are really awesome because there are very short lines and you can get through the park quicker. We also had one of the meal plans so we were able to eat at amazing restaurants without having to worry about our budget. It was the perfect weather (about 70 the entire time) and, because American kids are in school, it wasn’t too crowded. Here is a link to some of our favorite pictures from the trip

A glass a day…

I was watching Discovery Health the other day and they reported that new studies suggest that drinking a glass of red wine a day helps decrease the risk of lung cancer by 60% in current and former smokers. Me being a former smoker this caught my attention. For years we have heard the benefits of red wine:
-Can raise good cholesterol
-Decrease risk of heart disease
-Decrease risk of some cancers
-Slows the progression of some neurological disorders
So with all of that in mind Joe and I have decided to try to drink a glass of red wine each night. I mean, it really is the only thing out there that is really good for you that makes you feel all nice and warm.
Now let me find a way to say this delicately…I can’t stand red wine. I don’t really like wine in general, but most of the red wine I have had makes me cringe. Beer, awesome. I could go on and on about beer for days…what goes in to different types so that a porter is different than a stout, etc etc etc. I can pair beer with a myriad of food and love every minute of it. But the last time I actually liked wine was when I was in high school and someone gave me a bottle of Boone’s Farm. It was like an alcoholic jolly rancher that made you feel like crap for at least a day after drinking it. We even got this gorgeous crystal decanter for our wedding and it had just been collecting dust until the other night.
So far we have tried one suggested wine, Yellowtale Cabernet Sauvignon and it made me gag like I was drinking bleach. I then tried a chianti at an Italian restaurant and, although it was a little more tolerable, I still had to shoot it. Someone tonight suggested we try a shiraz. I don’t know. I guess after a while you develop a taste for it but right now it still tastes like crap. Maybe one day I will be able to appreciate it the way I do a good beer.

So here is my question to you all. Any suggestions for wine that won’t make me choke?

Saved by Nostalgia

I am sitting here folding laundry and trying to get some final papers completed and on the tv is…get ready…Saved by the Bell!  And not only that, It’s probably my favorite episode.  The one where Jessie gets a C on her geometry test and her and Kelly and Lisa are going to sing for a record producer.  She becomes addicted to caffeine pills or something and has a minor freak out. This show makes me happy.  Bad acting, worse plot lines, and some really aweful hair and wardrobe…what could be better!  So, in honor of accidentally stumbling on this episode, I give you some of my favorite Saved by the Bell moments.
